The ArchiCAD Installation Wizard guides you through the steps of installing ArchiCAD on your computer.
|
1 |
Insert the ArchiCAD CD-ROM into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. |
|
• |
On PC, the ArchiCAD 10 Installation dialog box will appear automatically. Start the Installation Wizard by choosing the “ArchiCAD 10” caption. Alternatively, browse the contents of the ArchiCAD 10 CD-ROM, and double-click on the “Setup” application in the CD root directory. |
|
• |
On the MacOS platform, the “ArchiCAD 10” volume will be mounted on your desktop. Open this volume and click the “ArchiCAD Installer” icon. |
|
• |
On the PC platform, the installer will first check your Java environment. If Sun Java Runtime Environment v1.4.2 or newer is not available on your system, the ArchiCAD Installer will automatically install Java 1.5. |
|
• |
Choose
“ArchiCAD 10 Commercial” or “ArchiCAD 10 Educational.” |
For more information, see “Licenses” in the ArchicAD 10 Help Menu.
|
2 |
After accepting the license agreement, you will have to define a location on your computer’s hard drive for installing ArchiCAD 10. You can either accept the default location offered by the Installer or point to an existing folder or create a new folder. |
|
3 |
|
• |
The Typical option installs all components of ArchiCAD 10. It is recommended to use this option when first installing ArchiCAD. |
|
• |
The Custom option installs only the selected parts of the full package. Choose this option only if you are experienced in installing and using ArchiCAD. |
|
• |
If you are running installer in special “log” mode, a third option, Advanced is also available. |
See details for running installer in “log” mode in “Predefined Company Standards” in the ArchicAD 10 Help Menu.
Note: As part of the installation process, if the installer detects an installed ArchiCAD 9 on your machine, you will have the option of importing any customized Work Environment Profiles from AC 9 into AC 10.
For more information on transitioning your projects to ArchiCAD 10, see the ArchiCAD 10 New Features Guide, available from the ArchiCAD Help menu or from your ArchiCAD > Documentation folder.
|
4 |
As the last step of the install process you can create an “ArchiCAD 10 Demo Desktop” shortcut. |
This shortcut will start ArchiCAD in demo mode even when a protection key is available in your system.
|
5 |
After installing ArchiCAD, insert the hardware protection key into the USB port of your computer and restart your computer so that the hardware protection key will function properly. |
For more information, see “Hardware Protection” in the ArchicAD 10 Help Menu.
|
6 |
On
the PC platform, you must have QuickTime version 6.5 or higher installed on your computer to run
ArchiCAD 10. If it is not already on your system, QuickTime 7 will be
installed automatically, and its license agreement will be displayed for you
to accept. |
When you start ArchiCAD for the first time, a dialog box may warn you that some ArchiCAD components are not installed.
You can either run ArchiCAD anyway, or you can quit the application and modify the system accordingly before launching ArchiCAD again. If you choose Run Anyway, you will not get these messages the next time you start ArchiCAD.
If you already have ArchiCAD installed, and start the Installation Wizard, you are provided with two options:
|
1 |
Add will add new features to your current installation. You will see all available features in a list and you can check features to be added to your current installation. |
|
2 |
Repair will reinstall ArchiCAD with the features of your current installation. You can choose to save your preferred files in a backup folder. If you select this option, a “backup” folder will be created in your ArchiCAD 10 folder. The name of the backup folder will contain the ArchiCAD version and the date of creation; and will include: |
|
• |
your previous Add-on settings (e.g. your interactive schedule list schemes) |
|
• |
|
• |
|
|
• |
After the repair process is complete, you can either delete these preferred files or reuse them by copying them back into your repaired ArchiCAD environment:
|
• |
copy your Add-On settings back to the respective sub-folders of your ‘ArchiCAD 10/Add-Ons’ folder |
|
• |
replace the library in the ‘ArchiCAD 10/ArchiCAD Library 10’ folder |
|
• |
|
|
• |
replace the ‘PNTemplate.bin’ files in the ‘ArchiCAD 10’ folder |
Project files you saved into the ArchiCAD 10 folder will not be deleted or overwritten by the repair process.
To uninstall ArchiCAD 10, navigate to the “Uninstall.AC” folder in your ArchiCAD 10 folder, and select the “Uninstaller” application. The Uninstall Wizard will help remove files which were installed by the ArchiCAD Installation Wizard.
If you have more than one ArchiCAD installed, you may want to leave the WIBU driver and components installed on your system. In this case, make sure that the Remove WIBU hardware protection driver option is un-checked. The uninstaller doesn’t remove any files you have created in the ArchiCAD main folder - e.g. ArchiCAD project files that you saved into the ArchiCAD main folder.
Important: Do not remove the Java Runtime Environment v1.4.2 before uninstalling ArchiCAD.
